Setting up the Board
If you buy a Chessboard here, it will automatically set itself up.

How to Play
When you move your pieces, however, you're gonna need to know how to move them. knights move in an L shape, and can jump over as many pieces at a time. if you want to advance a pawn from its starting position, you can move it forward one or two squares. Otherwise, it's only one square. When you get the pawn to the other side of the board, you can turn it into any piece you want EXCEPT a king or a pawn. Pawns can not advance or capture backwards. The bishop is a piece that can move only in a diagonal pattern. However, they can move as many spaces diagonal as they want without capturing a piece. Handy! A rook moves side to side and up and down. It is a valuable piece though. Don't lose it! The king is the piece you are trying to protect. If one of your opponent's pieces is capable of capturing your team's king on their next move, you have to block the attack or move your king. This is called check. if there is no escape from check, it's called checkmate, and you lose the game. P.S. your king can move one square in any direction. A queen has the power of all the pieces except a knight. Now PLAY! SOME! CHEEEESS!!!!!
